About Adopting

How do you adopt one of your huskies?

To adopt one of our huskies, please fill out an application on our website or download a PDF file and e-mail to us. The application will include calling references, a vet and home check, a meet and greet, and a signed contract along with payment of an adoption fee after approval.

How old do you have to be to adopt?

We request that you are at least 21 years old. If you are younger, it can be approved with Board of Directors approval.

I live in an apartment, will this effect my chances of adoption?

We will not automatically deny you from adopting a husky solely because you live in an apartment. However, we will verify with your management office that they are not on the restricted breed list.

I have small children, will I be able to adopt from you?

We will not automatically deny you from adopting because you have small children. However, we will take into consideration your experience with huskies or other large breeds.

Generally speaking, no. However, some can coexist with cats or other small animals depending on their temperament.

Can you guarnatee the temperament of your dogs?

No. We will do our best to place the dog in the most appropriate home but we cannot guarantee their temperaments as dogs settle into new surroundings differently than others. The average rule of thumb is 3 months for their full personality to show. If an issue does arise after adoption, please contact us.

I heard that a husky should be shaved to help keep it cool. Is this true?

This is not true and can cause severe medical issues with your husky such as sunburn, heat stroke, and other heat realated illnesses. We do not advise shaving your dog unless for necessary medical procedures. For more information, please visit the Snowdog Guru.

Our adoption fees are based on several factors to include the age of the dogs we ensure that you are receiving a fully vetted dog. The adoption fees go towards the medical evaluation and care upon intake into program.

If I think the adoption is not working out, will I be reimbursed my adoption fee or can I apply it towards another dog?

If you fee the dog is not a good fit for you after the contract has been singed, please contact us. However, adoption fees are non-refundable and and considered a donation to the rescue and cannot be applied towards another dog. A seperate adoption fee will be required.
